☟ making the decision ☝
posted: Mon, Feb 13, 2017 07:52:18 AM
to be part of the solution, instead of part of the problem. do i personally agree with every decision that has been made by the groups i attend or the service structure that supports them? not by a long shot, and nowhere has i ever read that i NEED to cast my opinions aside and walk lockstep, arm in arm with my peers. i do however respect the process that they used to arrive at those decisions and once they are made, i accept them and move along. i may have an opinion, but after the fact i have lost the need to spout off about it. the time to put in my $0.02 has long passed and i was certainly invited and yes encouraged to “chime in,” as part of the decision-making process. although this has not always been the manner in which i reacted to the group decisions i disagreed with, i have over time come to realize that spewing my opinion after the fact is not being part of the solution. i do HOWEVER, reserve the right to say something, if i believe that the decision is negatively affecting the group'\'s ability to fulfill its primary purpose. sort of like the phenomenon that is going on social media.
i have to admit that i am staunchly independent when it comes to party politics. i voted in the last election and have missed very few since i became of age. i have very strong political opinions and will call out someone i see as turning our country in the wrong direction. that being said, i post very few political ramblings on social media, but when i do, they are generally of a biting satirical nature. now i am starting to see some of my “friend” starting to whine about all the political posts their “friends” are putting up, i mean seriously, if one does not care for what someone is posting, then unfollow them, it really is that simple. i gave many people in my lkife, with whom i disagree with politically, but love and want to be a part of my life. more than a few of them are susceptible to the sort of click-bating and fake news posted by Brietbart and their ilk. do i whine about it or unfriend them, no at first i post information about why the item they posted was disingenuous or flat out false, and if they continue citing the source, i block their shared link. BOOM, like magic, fake news on both side of the political spectrum is removed from my feed.
when it comes to what someone is feeling or their opinion, on the other hand, i welcome and even relish their ideas. when i believe i know what is best for everyone, then i stop learning. i can say though: Christianity is not under attack, just their “elevated” social standing. when something is being taken away, after centuries of being given, it may just feel like being attacked. for far too long, a dominant religion has played far too huge of a rule in shaping public policy and setting cultural norms. there is a correction going on and the current administration is actually assisting it by energizing his opposition. the middle class is NOT under assault by liberals, it is the corporate masters that truly run the economic machine and their slavery to shareholder greed that is creating a two caste system in the Western world. this whole liberal-conservative schism is a ruse to keep us from seeing what is really happening. even the public land grab is all about money and the energy barons have been licking their chops over getting into those lands ever since the current administration has made it clear that America is now for sale, to the highest bidder.
anyhow, i welcome the opinions, feelings, political musings and ideas, of those i choose to follow ion social media. i do not welcome “fake news” and click-bait and i have to say right now, for the most part MSNBC, FOX NEWS, CNN are not fake. they may present with a political bias, but they are generally reporting about real events, most of the time.
politically or in recovery, there are decision made that i do not agree with, a lot of the time. in my groups i watch and say something to others if i detect something that may need a tweak or two. politically i pay attention to all the voices and scream when i need to, because without opposition, the party in power is clueless about how their policies are affecting the lives of millions. personally i do not believe our current POTUS is very smart and is suffering from bad advice from those who would turn back the clock top the late 1800s, the era of gilded age, robber barons, but enough of that for today, as i need to get moving down to my corporate shill position and earn my daily keep. you see, i am also a realist as well as an idealist. ☺
