🌈 a very simple tool 🌋
posted: Thu, Jan 18, 2018 07:49:08 AM

this morning, i find myself railing against the local media and what they think their product is **worth.** for some reason, the local paper believes its ad-laden digital only subscription is worth $150.00 per year. even worse, the smaller and more local the printed word is, the more they want to charge to read their articles.
i get that the industry is doing what it can to survive and legacy news industry is having a difficult time, making it in the digital world, as all their traditional support dries up and moves to digital platforms. as a supporter of two other digital news sites, that do “real” investigative reporting and are not just a reprint of national news agencies, i am willing to “pay my way.” it seems that ALL the media companies believe that charging whatever the traffic will bear is a good business model. the content industries just do not get that overpricing and under-delivering will not win the hearts and minds of the very customers they need to woo in the coming years, and unless they have an owner with deep pockets, they too will go the way of “buggy whips,” which is unfortunate. enough of my little polemic today, the end of the media monopolies is approaching and perhaps what will be built in its stead, is something that is fairly priced and provides real content, rather than regurgitation of what was yesterday's news.
i, too, get stuck in retelling what happened yesterday and often believe that the chain of yesterdays that comp[rise my recovery, is sufficient for me to stay clean tomorrow, totally skipping over the here and now. my story is filled with obtrusive ads, blinking lights and slow to load, because i am more worried about what it is costing me to deliver than providing a real benefit to my day, today. i really did not mean to take my little tirade against pay to play news sites as a metaphor of my recovery, it just sort of ended going that direction. when i get past cost and content, what i see, is that i NEED to pay the price of subscribing to my life, by living the steps, including STEP 10, and to do so on a daily basis. i find when i check the news of my life in real-time, i behaviors i want to foster or have removed, much quicker. in this case information is a bit of freedom. unless i want to suffer the fate of the terrible lizards, i, too need to adapt to my changing world and stop trying to live my life as if nothing has ever changed. i can live in panic of the future, demanding that the world gives me more and more, until even my most ardent supporters walk away in disgust, or i can look at the reality through a simple inventory on a daily basis and implement the changes that i can, just for today.

movements tend to the land (or place) of death. And for what reason?
Because of their excessive endeavours to perpetuate life.
