🤬 the circumstances 🤳

that create anger and resentment, fill my daily existence. just on the extra long commute this morning allowed me more than ample opportunity to give another driver the middle finger salute or rant and rail about how slow they were driving and to just get out of my way. i often equate my behaviors when driving to my spiritual condition and today i would say that i was far from stellar, as i did encounter more than one “asshole.” so it goes …
sitting here in the office, i have had a minute to calm down, reflect and see that even though i went straight to judging those around me on I-25, i am only human and i placed my needs above those of everyone else. i could make amends this afternoon by driving the whole forty miles in the far right hand lane, no matter how fast the traffic ahead of me is going, but i know that action will certainly drive me crazy. instead, what i think i will do, i allow myself the freedom to travel with traffic and let go of those who are in more of a hurry than i am. i do know how to breathe, and let go and perhaps this afternoon i will find the willingness to do just that.
thinking about the resentments i currently have, i can see that none of them are really worth the cost of holding on to them. doing so, just drives me into entitlement and self-obsession, filling me with the DESIRE to retaliate, which is not the sort of person i choose to be today. i want more from life than being a walking anger machine, judging, convicting and executing everyone who fails to meet my expectations. wit5h that in mind, it is time to take my five flight walk upstairs and get a fresh coffee beverage, so i can get rolling on my next project for work.

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 2

2) What men dislike is to be orphans, to have little virtue, to be
as carriages without naves; and yet these are the designations which
kings and princes use for themselves. So it is that some things are
increased by being diminished, and others are diminished by being
increased.
