continue to deepen my commitment to living this program and invite my better self to counter my worst instincts. yes i know that was a very vague manner in which to start. my source material this morning was about shortcomings and the life long process that is the 7TH Step. as i stepped into the quiet this morning and allowed myself to just be, what kept coming to the surface was a question about whether of not i am doing enough to find a manner in which to support myself. each and every time that query broke the quiet, i took a beat and then sank back down into the void. as i stepped out into the real world, i took a brief inventory about that topic and came to the conclusion that i am doing enough, but i could be a bit more aggressive in my search to find my next gig. perhaps the time has come to start looking in a different direction. i will consider new ideas and allow myself the freedom to see where they lead.
the weird part of this semi-retired life, is that i feel no stress about getting back to the nine to five grind. i do not feel the need to start exaggerating on my skill-set nor to pad my experience with what to fit what an employer may be looking for, been there and done that and have had consequences that i choose not to repeat. so i will continue doing what i have been doing and allow the process to go where it will. who knows maybe a meter reader or a locator service might be a place to look. this living a principled life gig is certainly paying off for me, just for today.
anyhow, this evening will be my first chance to see what life in a position of authority in the real world looks like for me. there are some stuff that i need to “herd the cats” into resolving and some “rough” feelings that need to be soothed. all in all, certainly tasks i can handle with a little bit of grace and poise, if i take care not to take anything personally and get all defensive about what is going on. a great time to practice surrendering a shortcoming or three. 😉
