² recovery is its own reward ²

public acclaim cannot make it any more valuable than it already is. the nice part of being on vacation this time of year, is that i get to write about topics that i have missed over the course of the years. i do have internet and i caan write this and as i was sitting quietly in a pool of 103 degrees of pure bliss watching the sky turn to day this morning,, i was struck about how awesome my life is. okay, i will fess up, i do believe that recovery is it own reward, and have no problem with that concept, HOWEVER, i am still human and a little bit of acknowledgment, a pat on the back, or material rewards are certainly still desirable to me. i can look at the fact that this date, is one i have missed writing on, as one of those rewards, i guess, as i was on vacation during this time, and without a connection.
i do however, digress, the reading did not strike about being rewarded for recovery, and that was just a diver into somewhere else, no what struck me was the idea, that to be humble, i need to remain anonymous. the more quietly i live my program the more humble i am. interesting extension of the idea into hyperbole, because there i would be, once again, saying ridiculous statements like "i am a newcomer every day;" or ""who ever got out of bed first this morning has the most clean time,"
let me tell you why i believe others say such tripe, i think it goes to the whole being humble by denying that you have anything. it is true that clean time does not equal recovery, BUT it is also true that recovery speaks for itself. when i diminish my efforts in this whole recovery gig, i am disrespecting myself and the program in general. when i minimize the amount of time i have clean, i am disrespecting the new guys as well as those who have come before me. the truth is the new guys can pick out those members that have recovery fairly quickly and often go to great lengths to avoid them, choosing the members that have the most toys instead of the most spiritual tools. i understand that behavior because that is where i was.
anyhow time to shower and get somethingh to eat. back at you tomorrow.

Book 1

3) Therefore he who would administer the kingdom, honouring it as
he honours his own person, may be employed to govern it, and he who
would administer it with the love which he bears to his own person
may be entrusted with it.
