🌄 am i able 🌄

to live in balance these days? the source material suggests that when i am in harmony, physically, emotionally and spiritually, that i can live in balance. for the most part, my experience shows that to be true. the dental work i had done last week and the automotive repair work i am going to have done this week, has thrown a bit of a wrench into my plans to get out of consumer debt. those are all things that need to be done, and which i cannot avoid, for any length of time. oh, i could fret and fume about it, but to what end and why waste what little personal power i am given on a daily basis on stuff that cannot be changed. it is true, i could as i have done in the past, ignore those things, drive my car into the ground, or have my teeth extracted. i am well-versed in both of those behaviors and i CHOOSE to live differently today. the end result is i take care of myself and instead of dealing with consequences, i get to meet these problems head-on and move into a solution.
part of living in harmony to find balance in my life, is accepting that six-thirty AM is no longer a good time to hit the streets for my workout. that means, for me anyhow, i need to alter my morning routine to change up the order in which i do things, hence writing this before i get the chance to purge my conscious self with exercise. no telling what the result may be, but i know it is safer to walk in the light of day, than it is at dawn. as the season progresses, more and more changes to my routine will be required and in the past i would have railed against having to make these sort of accommodations. perhaps that i do so, willingly, is a sign that i have more balance in my life than i care to admit. so it is off to the streets for several thousand steps and time to clear my head, burn some calories and feel the difference caring for myself makes in my life, just for today.

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS

Book 2

1) Man at his birth is supple and weak; at his death, firm and strong.
(So it is with) all things. Trees and plants, in their early growth,
are soft and brittle; at their death, dry and withered.
