Twelve Steps continues to prepare me for challenges like sharing space, serving, and cooperating with others, with whom i do not agree. as my number of days in a row, roll up, i find myself still wanting to always be correct and having the desire to bully everyone into seeing things my way. cooperation is for sissies! 🤣🤣🤣 well, not really, but i certainly can return to my default behavior, as it was a skill i honed into a fine weapon in active addiction and one i was loathe to be rid of, in my early recovery. even with that caveat, most of the time, at least when i am spiritually fit, i understand that being a part of, means learning to share with others and be a part of a solution, rather than being THE PROBLEM.
today, i am doing my best to cram all that i need to do in just s few hours so i can go merrily on my way. i have no desire to work all day, but i do have the desire to complete my task at hand, as well as get a work out under my sneakers, walk the dawg and write this little exercise and be back home by two PM to do the code assessment for a new opportunity. ambitious as that may sound, and certainly does sound that way, i will go with the flow and do what i can to make it a reality. that of course means, paying attention to what i am doing in the here and now, and shaving minutes off of what i want to do, to add them to what i feel i have to do. life is tricky in that manner from time to time, and today is just one of those days.
So it is back to doing my work project and posting this to the interwebs. i know that i might have had more to say, but i also know that what i heard this morning, when i was not consumed by work, was that i NEED to be okay with myself and let go of self-will, surrender to the process and go with the flow. if i choose not to do so, i will end up in a place i have no desire to be. today, i choose the easier and softer path of being okay with what comes.

Tao Te Ching

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

The Tao Teh King, or The Tao and Its Characteristics
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 2

3) He who knows these two things finds in them also his model and
rule. Ability to know this model and rule constitutes what we call
the mysterious excellence (of a governor). Deep and far-reaching is
such mysterious excellence, showing indeed its possessor as opposite
to others, but leading them to a great conformity to him.
