making the most of today

FAITH is making the most of today and letting GOD take care of yesterday and tomorrow.... HMMMMMMMM
interesting concept, if i let go of tomorrow and yesterady i can make the most of today and live in FAITH. i have very little trouble letting go of yesterday, after all there is not a whole lot i can do about it. tomorrow on the other hand presents a few diffculties for me. there is the illusion that somehow i can affect tomorrow if i just apply enough force of will. after all i need to make plans and expect outcomes to live in reality, or do i?
yes i do need to make plans and at least examine the possible outcomes. i do not need to have expectations of what tomorrow will bring. there are some things that i do know about tomorrow though, if i choose once more to abstain from using and acting out i will continue to grow. if i make my plans today for my future and am flexible i will not only survive but thrive no matter what tomorrow brings.
for me it is dangerous to live in anything but this moment, but that does not mean that i can afford to live without some sort of plan for tomorrow in place. what i believe this reading is saying to me is that plan the plan and then adapt it to the the outcome.

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS

Translated by James Legge

Book 1

2) Shrinking looked they like those who wade through a stream in winter;
irresolute like those who are afraid of all around them; grave like
a guest (in awe of his host); evanescent like ice that is melting
away; unpretentious like wood that has not been fashioned into anything;
vacant like a valley, and dull like muddy water.
