looking like a winner was once a big concern of mine, after all is it not all about looking good, especially when i was very young in recovery. i would spin my behavior and what i shared to make myself FEEL like those in the rooms who i saw and respected. it really did not matter to me what it took, and i did some things that i have since had to make amends for.
today i understand that being a winner is not about how i look and sound but what i feel. if i am comfortable in my own skin, i do need to SEEK outside approval. if i am living up to the spiritual ideals of this program to the best of my ability, i can be myself. and if i can be myself and do the best i can to carry the spiritual principles of this program into my daily life, i am a winner. does that mean i do this perfectly everyday, all the time? not hardly! it does mean that i acknowledge my shortcomings, do my best to let them go and live in the HERE and NOW to the best of my ability. if i stay clean one more day and learn from my missteps i am a WINNER and no one can take that away from me.

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

Book 1
1) Heaven and earth do not act from (the impulse of) any wish to be
benevolent; they deal with all things as the dogs of grass are dealt
with. The sages do not act from (any wish to be) benevolent; they
deal with the people as the dogs of grass are dealt with.
