🌟 winners stay clean, 🌟

just for today. i guess that makes me a winner over 9900 times in a row. i have to admit, since i got a minute clean, i never have really found this particular topic to my liking, as it seems to take something competitive and then lower the bar so everyone can “win.” after i get over my first impression and dig a bit deeper, i know that recovery is not a competitive sport and that i am hardly perfect in all aspects of my recovery program, every single minute of every single day. despite that unpleasant truth, i stay clean and “win” another day clean.
it is quite true, that when i first started this journey, i could use any and all the encouragement i could get, just to stay on this path. having a low bar for success, staying clean, helped me get over the recovery “yips,” and find the ways and means to do the next right thing, even when it was staying clean for the next sixty seconds. i will readily admit, that there have been times in my journey when i was on the “just for this minute” program. i am grateful that those days are mostly behind me. these days, staying clean has become something that i just do, automagically with very little thought or effort on my part. it is not as if i do nothing to foster my recovery, i learned a long time ago that the quality of my life is directly related to the quality of my daily recovery effort. that does not mean that i live a life that has all that i want, but i certainly seem to get all that i need ↝ serenity, a sense of self, a warm place to sleep, three meals a day, the ability to love and be loved and freedom from the slavery of active addiction.
part of my daily routine does include caring for my physical self and this morning, i am far too wimpy to want to venture outside to do my workout. i am going to head to the gym and allow myself the freedom to exercise in a controlled environment, because i am worth caving into comfort, every now and again. i have discovered that for me, physical activity fosters my emotional and spiritual health as well. it is a good day to be a winner u=in all parts fo my life, just for today.

Book 2

1) Man at his birth is supple and weak; at his death, firm and strong.
(So it is with) all things. Trees and plants, in their early growth,
are soft and brittle; at their death, dry and withered.
