to quote paul harvey....
i had a myriad of reasons why i could not share everything that was happening to me in an open meeting, and most of them were self-centered selfish SHIT!
looking and sounding good were at the core, if i only shared the positive message about how well i was doing, noone would ever catch on that yes i am a human too!
then there was the arrogant self-righteous phase where a ll shared about was how YOU should SHARE, and WORK YOUR PROGRAM, while putting this nasty little package in a spiritual wrapper making it sound as if i was sharing about myself.
how i ever managed to get to this day clean is truly a miracle and it is despite me not because of me.
today i do not feel the need to share at every meeting, nor do i practice and rehearse what i am going to share -- so i never know exactly what will spill out when i open my mouth and i guess that is a good thing. one little tool i carry into meetings with me is an acronym told to me by a fellow member who is passing quickly through her third decade of recovery -- ‘GGMM’ -- or for the acronym impaired G.od G.uide M.y M.outh. with that thought in mind, and carrying a couple tools that have been given to me over the course of my journey, i can now carry the message of hope: ‘that no matter what happens today -- good, bad or indifferent -- i can stay clean and get yet another day of recovery’

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 1

1) Who knows his manhood's strength,
Yet still his female feebleness maintains;
As to one channel flow the many drains,
All come to him, yea, all beneath the sky.
Thus he the constant excellence retains;
The simple child again, free from all stains.

Who knows how white attracts,
Yet always keeps himself within black's shade,
The pattern of humility displayed,
Displayed in view of all beneath the sky;
He in the unchanging excellence arrayed,
Endless return to man's first state has made.

Who knows how glory shines,
Yet loves disgrace, nor e'er for it is pale;
Behold his presence in a spacious vale,
To which men come from all beneath the sky.
The unchanging excellence completes its tale;
The simple infant man in him we hail.
