− i will look for opportunities to be of service in everything i do −

well i am way behind schedule this morning, part of what is dragging me down is my preparation to completely leave a loyal and longtime customer behind. over the years, he has been good to me, but as my life changed my willingness to be of service to him, for little or no pay for keeping the fires going, has waned, until finally i told him that today was the drop dead date. another part of why i am behind schedule is just a lack of motivation to be getting through what i want to accomplish as i walk through this morning. all in all, more than enough excuses to be a slacker and a slouch!
where does any of that fit into the theme of being of service? well, stretching my creative imagination just the tiniest bit, the slacker line is a judgement about what i am doing in the here and now. judgement, especially one that could be viewed as negative most often arise from the part of me i call addiction. those hurtful thoughts, keep me from seeing what is really going on inside me. have i really been slacking this morning? not by a long shot, i have got a lot of things done and continue to move forward in my morning, setting a very high priority for the the bit of service i have committed to for the next month or so. who knows, perhaps next week, i will commit to that bit of service for an entire year. life is strange like that, especially when i listen to what is going on inside of me.
anyhow, i do need to get moving down the road, so for now, i hope your 2012 lives up to your expectations! me, i am doing my best to get rid of any expectations about what the next year will bring and live in the here and now. i lwill let you know how that is working for me!

Book 2

1) What (Tao's) skilful planter plants
Can never be uptorn;
What his skilful arms enfold,
From him can ne'er be borne.
Sons shall bring in lengthening line,
Sacrifices to his shrine.
