does not necessarily mean hounding the newest members when they start to ask questions about this gig is done. sometimes it means making oneself available, even if one never gets the call. i was stopped by a neighbor who may still be a peer in recovery yesterday as i was walking the dawg and asked about whether or not a meeting on the schedule was actually happening. i had to be honest and say i was not sure, but they could certainly pass my contact information along, as i would be glad to talk to someone with questions about recovery. i did not get the call, but i am quite certain that was the next correct thing to do. life in the twilight zone between using and trying to decide to do something about that, is confusing enough. by volunteering to guide another person to a place where they may be able to make a considered decision, whether or not they chose this path, is certainly 12TH step work on the highest order.
today, i officially return to the land of the “living.” after nearly a month, i am driving into the office and am more than a bit excited about doing so. the “shine” may come off as i negotiate the commute, but for right now, i am going with being thrilled to get out of the house. i have a new attitude about protecting myself from the ongoing pandemic and certainly about how to get my steps, while in the office. it is a good day to get moving down the road and who knows, an opportunity to give away what i have uncovered in recovery, may just be part of a plan beyond my ken, just for today.
