δ instead of living my life by default, i can learn how to make responsible choices and take risks. δ

a heightened awareness of myself and an increased willingness to accept personal responsibility gives me the freedom to change, to make choices, and to grow.
so i was up way early this morning and got started on a project that was only going to take a few minutes. HA! the project i got started now will be a whole morning long, and it has been one that i have been putting off for quite some time now. life is like that too! i think i know what i need to undertake on a daily basis, and i often find what i start is not going to take as long as i think it is or takes even longer. the irony of this ties back to the reading, if i choose to continue to let the world decide what i am going to do, how i am going to behave and live in a reactive mode, i will continue to be miserable. the choice to be a victim is mine on a daily basis, heck a minute by minute basis. i believe that i choose to accept responsibility for my actions and behaviors today. after all, it is yet another good day to recover!

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 1

2) Therefore a wise prince, marching the whole day, does not go far
from his baggage waggons. Although he may have brilliant prospects
to look at, he quietly remains (in his proper place), indifferent
to them. How should the lord of a myriad chariots carry himself lightly
before the kingdom? If he do act lightly, he has lost his root (of
gravity); if he proceed to active movement, he will lose his throne.
