α i can re-evaluate my priorities, appreciating the loved ones that are still part of my life ω

i want to make the most of what is most important while it lasts. death in recovery, even death of a loved one is not a new thing for me to handle. i have been dealing with it since i was 45 days clean, and each time it happens, the first thought that pops into my mind is this is far to painful for me to deal with. that leads to well if i cannot deal with it, a vacation from reality may just do the trick. however, then the part of me that cherishes my recovery kicks in and i go to a meeting, make that phone call and reinforce my decision to not use no matter what.
living just for today, i forget the pain as i move through it, i forget that i cannot deal with these kinds of issues by myself and most importantly i take for granted that those who i love will always be there, disregarding the basic facts of life, that humans sicken and die.
so i do not have a bunch to write except to say that i am grateful for everyone that i have in my life today! and if i have not told you that i love you recently -- well i do love each and every one of you and will say it to you directly the next time we speak.
