☾ listening ☽

what did i hear when i sat listening to my feelings about listening today? yes that question is loaded with purposeful irony and yes it is not rhetorical. what i heard was that i NEEDED the reminder that listening to what is going on around me, is just as important as listening for the will of the POWER that fuels my recovery. as the election season ramps up and the racist, Big Brother types start screaming about how we need to start tracking and limiting a group of people based on religion, and start collecting every single bit of data, on each and every citizen, i feel that i want to shut them out and crawl into some cocoon where none of this matters. quite honestly a=if those screaming about how unsafe we are here in this country, truly looked at the facts, they would come to the conclusion that it is really guns that kill [people and most of those guns are wielded by people the victims know intimately. sure there is violent crime, but it is no worse than before, and sure there is domestic terrorism perpetrated by Christian as well as Muslim extremists. so since there is Christian terrorists as well, should we be kicking them to the curb as well? i mean i could get all this wailing and gnashing of the teeth, if car bombs and acts of terror were a daily, weekly or even monthly occurrence, like in Baghdad or Kabul, but it is not. the authorities have been missing any clues at all about the actions of the terrorists, with the surveillance tools they have in hand and are well-practiced at using, and yet they keep screaming for more. NOTHING in the Paris attacks, San Bernardino attacks, Charleston attacks was encrypted or even well hidden, and yet they missed all of those, when it was clear that they were all well-planned and posted in plain, non-encrypted text. gun control did nothing to keep the guns out of those hands and religious zeal and extremism was at the core of those heinous acts. just as there is no war on cops, Christians or women, the volume keeps getting turned up and up, and what we as a nation will end up with, is a modern version of one of the repressive regimes ever to be seen, and they will have all the technology to prevent dissent, free-speech or even the exposition of ideas contrary to what they believe white-bread America is all about. i am certainly hoping that my Republican peers, catch on to the fact that they are being played by being kept in a state of constant fear, and the only thing that will alleviate that fear will be a complete suspension of the Bill of Rights, including the sacrosanct SECOND Amendment. do you really believe that modern fascist will allow the populace to remind for very long? it is the FIRST, FOURTH and FIFTH amendments that allow for the SECOND to continue to exist and as the candidates and politicians continue to chip away from those, their true goal is a frightened mass of sheeple, that will do and accept anything they are given, 1984 just 31 years late. after all, the technology now exists in our homes to monitor and record everything that we hold private, and the sad part is, we bought and turned it on ourselves.
man oh man, did i get off on a tangent! i guess i really have been listening all along.
now to those of you in my life, i care for and love you all, and hopefully my little diatribe did not offend you. in truth, the separation of us and them does more damage to our country than a few lone wolf nut jobs, who do very little to hide where they are eventually going. those whom i interact with, can rest assured that, today anyway, i am actually listening to what you are saying and doing my best to be present for you, when i can shut down the klaxons of hate and intolerance that are blaring from every orifice in the media today. it is a good day to be clean, and yes even a better day to say neither gun control nor dragnet surveillance is the answer to the very minor problem of domestic terrorism, maybe just a few more people listening to what those in their lives are actually sayin, will do the trick.

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge
Book 1
4) When things have attained their strong maturity they become old.
This may be said to be not in accordance with the Tao: and what is
not in accordance with it soon comes to an end.
