at active addiction, i can clearly see that moderation was not a strength for me. i carried that trait into my phase of mere abstinence and even early recovery, after all if one is good, a million is FANTASTIC! i often make the joke about if medical science comes up with a pill to cure addiction, i will take ten of them. my point is that even with a minute or so clean, i still fall into the trap of wanting more. i am not sure if t is a human trait that has been stretched out of shape by addiction, or an addict trait that just gets piled on top of all my humanness. not that any of that matters, it simply is part of who i am.
over the past thirteen hours, i have discovered that a company i used to trust, has destroyed their customer service and now is far from having any answers. it is not unlike DoorDash, who decided that it was worth giving a five dollar discount for cold food, so they could pound more deliveries in per trip, unless i paid extra for the service that they used to provide for free. i wonder what bean counter came up with the notion that to make more money, they would take the chance that cold food would be something their customers would accept. more than likely, most of their customers do not complain, so the five dollar credit rarely needs to be paid out. i am way to fucking old school and i believe that the only companies that deserve my patronage are those who treat me with respect and i am discovering that kindness and respect are no longer values most companies adhere to. i sucks being a customer and a data point to see, so the C-suite denizens can make their way overvalued bonuses. enough of the dump on big bidness as it is today, as my only recourse is to stop their services and products. as i am discovering, there are more than a few alternatives out there.
today, i see my Social Security check pending deposit in my account and it does restore a little faith in the DOGE-ravaged government services. i have to take the good with the bad and right here and right now, it is time to move on to getting my daily tasks done. i am clean. i have no desire to use and i have wasted far too much of my limited bandwidth on a meal box that has yet to be delivered. i guess i need to take a cue from my daily reading and practice prudence with my bandwidth as well as with my commitments to serve the fellowship that has given me the life i have today.
