active addiction is the only promise offered by the fellowship that has given me this new manner of living. today has not been the best day of my life so far. my fitness tracker died one quarter of the way through my hike and the job offer i thought i had, is more than likely a scam. the thing is, both of those events did not need to occur, i knew my watch was low on battery and “forgot” to charge it before i hit the trails. the job offer, had all sorts of “red flags” that i chose to ignore. a little due diligence on my part was all that was needed. i have been known to be lazy and yes oblivious at times, but at least this time, it did not cost me thirty grand to find out that i had been had. the extra steps it takes to meet my daily goal, will not kill me either and in both cases i am okay with dealing with the fallout. oh, just in case someone who is reading this little ditty goes down a similar path: emails from careers-rapidrisemedia.com or consultcorpcareer.com are two of the domains where these scams originate.
so how does any of that tie into the promise i wrote about above? well when i got clean and stayed clean, no one promised me i would get any smarter, have a better memory or be able to jump tall buildings in a single bound. even though i have a minute in recovery, i am still a human being that can be fooled or simply forget to do the needful at times. i have always believed i was smarter than the average bear, and some days, i actually am, the past few days, not so much. i may be disappointed in myself, but i will live and continue moving forward in FAITH that i will find what i need to fill the other half of my monthly income needs. maybe the US Postal Service is one place to look, before applying at Walmart to be a greeter.😉
that being said, it is time to get out my laptop and take care of bidness today, as i have had the morning off to get some hiking under my boots. it is a good day to be clean and a better day to pay attention to the what is and let the what is not go. life in my skin has seen better days, but i am not about to use, open a vein or two or take my frustrations of what is not out on the world around me.
