this remarkable feat on the part of our sponsor is not a mere coincidence. he has simply walked the same path before me. so as i sit here this early Friday morning, on the last day of my self-imposed exile from pounding the pavement, i have the opportunity to think about what my sponsor has done for me, and how that action has affected my life and my recovery. the reading goes into what the reasons for choosing my sponsor may have been, and i am more than certain that i have told that tale before, probably, as i have accused others of doing, more than once and to the distress of my faithful readers, so if that is what you are looking for here today, move along.
is i am not going to talk about how i got the sponsor i have today, then perhaps i could speak to what that sponsor has done for me in the past. i could but i am fairly certain that i have beaten that topic to death also, that is what happens when i am consistent and regular about posting these various ditties.
no, what is ringing in my head this morning, is that the men who have sponsored me across the course of my recovery, seem to know exactly what i need and when to provide me with the nugget of knowledge at the exact right moment. i know it is not because they possess super mind powers, or have some sort of lock knowledge beyond my ken. i have come to believe that they are present for what my concept of a HIGHER POWER is telling that i need at that moment at time. at what looks like a coincidence is something more, much more, and is actually a miracle. so i could continue to get all mystical and speak of things like the synergy of the universe and my place within that web of interconnected divine plane of human existence, or i could just say that i am grateful for these things, that are beyond my understanding, that need not be analyzed, dissected and mounted for display. i am grateful that all of this structure may or may not exist, and however it works, i GET what i need when i ask for it, especially when i actually i use my sponsor’s experience, strength and hope. so it is time to sign-off with this final note. regardless of what the face and shape of the POWER that provides me the means to stay clean is, it is my task to be present for the gifts i am being offered, in the here and now, and as i move through my day. so off to the showers i go!
