∞ too busy?? too bad! ∞

the one common theme i hear from those members who go out after a period of recovery is:‘I got clean and got my life back. then as my life got fuller and fuller i found that i lacked the time to do those things that got me clean in the first place and the next thing you know here i am getting another white keytag!&rsqou; i would overlook this as evidence that i need to make recovery my primary priority, except the story is almost always the same and i have heard it too many times to dismiss it as a coincidence.
for me, this story creates an atmosphere of FEAR in my life and as a result builds my FAITH in the entire process. i can not only get clean, i can stay clean if i am vigilant in doing those things that were suggested when i was struggling to get clean, like making the time to attend meetings, meet with my sponsor, read the literature, work the step i am currently on, and maintain my conscious contact with GOD. really not all that time-consuming nor difficult. inconvenient? YES! a royal pain in the ass? SOMETIMES! but without making these simple things part of my daily routine, i am defenseless against the disease of addiction and without a doubt i will choose to use and be yet another one of those members who come back with my tail between my legs, as i once again raise my hand for those first 30 days.

Book 2

2) He (who knows it) will keep his mouth shut and close the portals
(of his nostrils). He will blunt his sharp points and unravel the
complications of things; he will attemper his brightness, and bring
himself into agreement with the obscurity (of others). This is called
'the Mysterious Agreement.'
