different, it was bad was not something i believed i actually believed when i walked into the rooms. the truth is, that i was quite the bigot, not about race, or gender, but certainly about intelligence and common sense. as a member of the privileged class, white and male, i know today that i still have biases and prejudices that affect how i interact with others and i am learning to recognize them and respond correctly rather than responding through their filter. does that make me “woke?” quite possible as i have awoken to the fact that i live in a privilege that many others lack. i really do not have to fear being dragged out of car and being hand-cuffed because i was speeding.

FIFTEEN (15) years clean!

what i felt this morning, as i sat and as i trotted around the track at the Rec Center, was a sense of gratitude that i am learning how to live in this world with its myriad of different types of people. i still have a rough spot for the ignorant and the brain-washed sheeple, and even for them i am attempting to see that maybe they are truly doing the best with what they lack.
today, i am leaving my sane purple home and heading up to spend some time in one of those places where the brain-washed walk freely and openly, spouting out the lies they have peddled to them and believing that they are actually saving us from ourselves, IF only… i know that IF i want to enjoy myself and celebrate with my friend and sponsee, i have to put aside my opinions and keep my mouth closed up tight IF i start hearing the praises of the orange-haired buffoon. i am responsible to make this day special, for the both of us. it is my responsibility to let go of what “might happen” and enjoy the ride. as i discover as the number of days i have been walking on this side of the lawn increase, is that life is too short to make plans for the “what ifs,” even if it has been my modus operandi for as long as i can remember. 😜
