recovery first??
posted: Wed, Aug 18, 2004 04:47:29 AM
yes today my life is far too busy. i sometimes believe that something has to go but what?? do i cut back on my side jobs and take the hit in money, do i cut back on the time i spend with my significant other and take the hit in happiness, do i cut back on recreation or pleasurable pusuits and take the hit in serenity? none of these alternatives are palatable to me, so the only thing left is to cut back on recovery activities. maybe i can can get by on only a meeting every couple of weeks, or maybe a couple less sponsees, or how about fewer service commitments? if i chosse one of those alternatives i certainly would have more time to enjoy the gift i have been given and i proabably will be OK. or will I?? i have seen what happens when i put my "real-life" ahead of recovery. I get sicker, and less able to handle the little speed bumps that "real-life" throws at me. instead i have learned that i must keep doing what i have done all along and that is put my recovery first and use the tools of the program to balance all those other gifts. "real-life" is hard enough for "normies", but for me it will become nearly impossible, so just for today i will put my RECOVERY first.
