above all, in the process of recovery i have found in fellowship that sustains me. what i took from the source material was two separate but very related notions: spiritual paths and open-mindedness. both of those notions have been critical to my development as a person and certainly on my journey to becoming more than i ever was. i have spoken in the past that my journey to my spiritual path took the first fifteen years of my recovery. that is not a regret of any sort of “bad” thing, i see it as wait i needed to do. during that whole process, i was incredibly open-minded. trying out the bits and pieces of the spiritual paths that my peers shared. part of me, certainly had the desire to have a HIGHER POWER and spiritual path that looked like the ones they had, and part of me hated that i wanted to imitate anyone. when i finally surrendered and opened my mind to my true desire, in one of my journeys through the ELEVENTH STEP, i found what i was seeking all those years, something that worked for me and the horror of it all was it did not look anything like the paths followed by my peers.
moving into the here and now, i have to move my fantasy league into a new platform and want to introduce a tougher, more competitive manner of playing. there will be wailing and gnashing of the teeth and i do have an alternative in mind if i get too much push-back. life will go on and maybe we will get some new players and the OGs will move on. change is tough and i get that. it took this old dawg fifteen years to admit what he knew form the very beginning of his journey. it took him te0wtent-five years to finally admit to being abused and qualify and quantify the damage done in that event and to myself through the decades of carrying that little lie i told myself way back when. just for today, i will start making the moves i need to make to move forward in my life, my fantasy league and my recovery.
