of recovery, taking care to nurture their true source. that source? the POWER that fuels my recovery, the steps and my willingness to take direction from those who precede me on this journey. while it is quite true, clean time does not equal recovery, i have grown up enough in the rooms to realize that whining about a bit of advice or guidance from one of my peers with more clean time, is jsut the petulant brat in me, reacting to something i do not care for, maybe i need to look at… HOWEVER, before i get really rolling:

i ascribe to theory that clean time does not equal recovery and that social acceptability does not equal recovery as well. in fact as i started to allude to above, i often throw those simple facts in the face of my peers, who may or may not have more clean time than i do, when i have an unpleasant emotional reaction to something they are trying to tell me, “after all do you not know who the fVck i am?
pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, for i am the great and spiritual DON!”
yes, recovery is an inside job for me, and getting past the part of myself, where how i look in your eyes in more important that how i feel, is something that i work on day by day. my life is full today and it is not about to get any less fuller in the next twenty-four hours. i can accept that there are those in my life, who are always trying to get away with something and when the mess up, will do everything they can to shift the blame, because they do NOT want to own their stuff. been there, done that, got the “T” shirt. today i do not want to be a part of that class, and i am grateful that i have a TENTH STEP to help me prevent that from happening. i do need to get rolling down thee highway. it is a good day to be recovering and even a better day to learn how to forgive those who cannot own their mistakes and ask for the help they need, just for today.
