i was not an instant convert to the notion of countering less than stellar behavior in others, with anything close to love and compassion. even these days, even with a minute clean, i can feel my anger rising and my desire to pound someone into sand, starting to take over. i have to remember what i tell the men i sponsor, who have worked the SEVENTH STEP: pause, take a breath and consider whether or not this situation is worthy of possibly doing an amends in real time or at least the near future. ninety-nine times out of one hundred, running it through that filter, leads to at least tolerance if not love and compassion, after all, i really do not know what it going on under their skin. i know that when i am an asshole, the last thing i want or need, is for someone to get up in my face about how i am behaving. in those situations, i always escalate and <BOOM> before i know it, i have done something that will require an admission of me being wrong and as i have said in the past, i hate to admit i was wrong!
i do have some work to get done, so i guess i will close out with just for today, i will strive to use love and compassion, rather than anger, resentment and insults, to respond to situations that are far from ideal.
