denial and embracing reality, is certainly a task i can undertake today. if course the problem with denial, is that i never know i am in it, until way after the fact. these days, one would hope with a long minute of clean time under my belt, i would be less susceptible to denial, and that is true, for the most part. that is a string caveat and in reality, i have stumbled across a few instances where i have been trapped in self-centeredness and self-will. it sucks hearing the sonic boom when i pull my head out of my ass.
what i heard this morning has to deal with a conversation i had with one of my peers about D.rug R.eplacement T.herapy and whether or not an addict is recovering while under that influence. i never i n a million years believed i would be the one advocating for such an addict being able to actually work steps or declare a clean date. least evening, i did not feel any sense of hypocrisy when i said it was possible and that it was no different than an addict with chronic pain, using pain medication, as prescribed under the care of a medical professional. neither one of those statements went over well, and that is not my stuff. i am now coming to the conclusion that willingness to do the needful, trumps my opinion, all the time and have no qualms about sponsoring someone who in the strictest sense of the term, is not “lclean.” just for today, i will look to their actions and leave my opinion out of the equation.
