in the group.
so i had a less than spiritual experience last night after the meeting. i discovered what a shell game rip-off Comcast is and how they really do not want customers to have cable only. just a warning, if you want to keep your X1 Xfinity service for your cable programming and set-top box, be prepared to stay on their crappy, slow and congested internet service for ever! i discovered last night, that without me paying for their outdated internet service, i could not keep the nearly modern cable box that they advertise on all over the place. talk about bait and switch! basically they said “go finds another TV provider, that gives you what you want1” when i said that to the “loyalty specialist” she “oh no sir, we are not saying that at all!” well so long cable and hello satellite. time to reach out to my friends and see who has DISH and wants to get the referral fee!
less than spiritual? well that telling of it does not even begin to express my frustration and level of disgust that i experienced last night. my tone and the words i chose to express my feelings to the so-called loyalty specialist last night were far from spiritual. i only dropped the F-bomb once and
\'i said i was fVcked! well, revenge is sweet and as i spread the word across every online platform i can find and i will take some small satisfaction in knowing that it will irk the powers to be, because they are doing their best to say what nice and wonderful guys the cable company is. my experience reminded me of an old Lily Tomlin skit: “We don't care because we are the CABLE company and we don't have to!“
moving along and back on track, the group as a force to aid in my recovery, is certainly a notion i have used in the past, and continue to use today. sure there is a lot of talk about GOD and HIGHER POWER in the rooms, and most of my peers, myself included, can use those terms interchangeably. that was far from always the case for me, and it was the little shortcut suggested in the reading that kept me coming back. it was the group and the collective power of my peers that kept me clean in the day.l that POWER is still accessible to me today, even though my need to use the group as my HIGHER POWER has been eliminated. moving beyond does not mean leaving the group or that i have stopped using the group as a source of strength in my journey through recovery. in fact, the group and the fellowship is a large part of the POWER that fuels my recovery and just for today, i do not see that changing.
