💀 in order that 💀

no addict, anywhere, need die from the horrors of addiction!
quite a way to start this little exercise off. it goes to the point of sharing a bond of selfless service with my peers, and i have written many, many, many times before how my service has been less than selfless, so i need not go down that rabbit-hole today. i will, however write about all sorts of other topics,, that are tangential to my main premise, that if i carry a clear and concise message of recovery, perhaps one less addict will die today. i know that i am even more powerless over the addiction of others, than i am of my own. at least i can CHOOSE to seek recovery through a twelve step program, which is more than adequate to keep the part of me i call addiction, at bay. i sponsor, probably far too many men, i do service work in the local jail, probably not often enough and i attend my home group on a very regular basis. for myself, i work an active program of recovery, that has become just what i do on a daily basis and writing this little ditty is part of that routine. i have to apologize for phoning this in yesterday, and although i might be excused, i do not need to rationalize or justify what i did not do. i had plenty to say, but it got lost in the white noise of a “bad” morning. today, however, i am moving in very slow motion and have the time and opportunity to write a bit more.
there is no lifetime achievement award for selfless service to the fellowship in which i make my home. i, however, was part of the process that actually gave one out, in order to shut someone up about how much they gave. it was an embarrassment to everyone involved, save for the recipient and i guess they had come to a place where they wondered WTF took so long for their effort to be recognized. what i took away from that whole humbling experience was that no matter how much i do, no matter how much i give, and no matter where i end up, possibly saving one addict form the horrors of active addiction is payoff enough, just for today.
