∞ the fellowship i have is precious. sharing together, we enhance the joys and diminish the burdens of life in recovery. ∞

multiply the joy, divide the burdens. i like that idea this morning although it is getting late to be using the morning term but i will anyways. thinking about how and what i share with those in my fellowship has be doing a bit of an inventory today. i know i am sometimes hesitant to share the good things about the gifts i have received because i feel like it is bragging. and i really do not want to share the bad things because i am worried about what it will look like to those who i want to respect me. so what is this addict to do? well if i take a suggestion from the reading this morning, i will let go of my fear about my appearances and be who i am. whether the events in my life are good, bad or indifferent, i need to be more open.
being open is still something i fear, although that fear has diminished since i embarked on the path of recovery, i have yet to let it go. after all, it took me years to build up the façade of a successfully using addict who had his life altogether, so i cannot expect to let go all of that overnight. this is after all a program of progress not perfection.

Book 2

2) It is simply by being pained at (the thought of) having this disease
that we are preserved from it. The sage has not the disease. He knows
the pain that would be inseparable from it, and therefore he does
not have it.
